As part of our mission to nurture moral leadership and strengthen social cohesion, the Tutu Foundation UK will be convening its next series of Ubuntu Roundtables, in partnership with Youth Futures UK, at City of London Academy Highgate Hill. These roundtables reflect the Foundation’s commitment to early intervention, creating structured spaces for dialogue that support young people to engage thoughtfully with difference, power, and responsibility before harm, division, or disengagement take root.
Led on behalf of the Foundation by our Project Manager, Sarah Boulton, the roundtables are grounded in the Foundation’s core belief that dialogue is a practical tool for change. By bringing people together across lived experience and institutional roles, we aim to foster understanding, dignity, and shared responsibility, values that sit at the heart of our work.
The sessions will be co-facilitated by student facilitators from both City of London Academy Highgate Hill and City of London Academy Islington, alongside experienced practitioners from Youth Futures UK. This approach reflects our conviction that young people are not only beneficiaries of this work, but leaders within it, capable of shaping conversations that affect their lives and communities.
Participation from the Metropolitan Police Service is an important dimension to the roundtables, encouraging open and human dialogue between young people and those in positions of authority. These conversations are not about instruction or enforcement. They are about listening, trust-building, and examining how institutions and individuals can act with integrity, accountability, and compassion.
Through these roundtables, the Foundation continues its work of convening courageous conversations, supporting moral formation, and investing early in the conditions that make long-term social change possible. Reflections from this work will inform our ongoing programmes and partnerships, ensuring that our approach remains rooted in Ubuntu, the understanding that our humanity is bound up with one another.
