Tutu Foundation UK collaborates with individuals employed in the National Health Service (NHS) to design tools that can assist the NHS in addressing some of the substantial financial obstacles it encounters.
The Tutu Foundation UK has developed two innovative tools: Conversations for Change and a Mediation Service. These tools can be used together to reduce conflicts, significantly enhance the resolution of disputes, and empower individuals to enhance services to the public and each other.
Using these tools, the Tutu Foundation UK can assist the NHS in managing conflicts and enhancing its performance in the areas below:
– Clinical and non-clinical litigation claims involving NHS Trusts and the NHS Litigation Authority.
– Staff satisfaction by empowering NHS staff to manage conflicts, reduce bullying, and address gender and race discrimination.
– Facilitating “whistleblowing” on poor practices.
The Tutu Foundation’s Mediation Service can assist the NHS in two ways:
1. Complaint Handling:
By collaborating with frontline complaint handlers, the foundation equips them with additional skills and knowledge of more effective methods for neutralising complaints, thereby preventing complaints from escalating into full-blown litigation claims.
2. Litigation of Claims:
The foundation offers independent, trustworthy, skilled, and professionally trained Regent’s University London-accredited mediators to mediate in the most challenging and time-consuming disputes, whether they involve internal HR issues or external negligence claims.
