For the first time, the core team came together to work on a documentary about Ubuntu. The core team consists of:

  • Alex (host) – Austrian producer
  • Michi (Michael) – Austrian producer
  • Lisa – Austrian fundraiser
  • Wakanyi – Kenyan woman living in the Netherlands; researching Ubuntu and AI
  • Mungi Ngomane – South African living in USA; attempting to merge the teachings of my homeland with the way of life in my birth land

The team spent a good amount of time outside in the mountains of Innsbruck. Mungi ventured to the top of Innsbruck, as you’ll see in the photos. The group spent a lot of time discussing Ubuntu and how it shows up around the world but most importantly how they can make sure it shows up for those in the West. The aim is to show Ubuntu as a tool in the toolbox of many tools that people can use to live better lives. Here’s a line from Our Why:

“We are making this documentary to honour the resilience, wisdom, and beauty that have shaped who we are—and to pass that inheritance forward.”

Mungi stated ‘Austria was a special place and when friends and fam looked at pictures of me there they were surprised by how adventurous I was. It was a chance to really focus on the tasks at hand and while our days and nights were long, you could feel dedication from each member to respect each other and make sure we could tell this important story.’
